Uig & Hamanavay Estate

welcome to fish hebrides

The estate has the exclusive fishing rights on the Hamanavay and Red River Systems, both enjoying good runs of sea trout and salmon. Wild brown trout fishing is also available in season. With four principal lochs; Craobhaig, Cro Criosdaig, Dibadale and Raonasgail, and two river systems, there is considerable variety available.

This includes extensive river fishing (subject to water conditions), consistent loch fishing from boats, and estuary fishing at river mouths. The sea trout fishing has been carefully conserved and is of outstanding quality.

This is some of the most private and secluded fishing in the British Isles. The estate applies a strict fly-fishing only policy.  Fishing is included in the high season rate for Hamanavay House.

Hamanavay House is a spacious modern retreat for up to eight guests, set in a stunning location with views out across Loch Tamnabhaigh among the hills of Uig on the Isle of Lewis. Built in 1991 in a traditional style and newly refurbished to a high standard in 2021, the house has a large drawing room with seven floor-to-ceiling windows that let you watch the ever-changing view while you relax in front of the fire.

The house is reached via an eight-mile track, transporting you to a completely peaceful, secluded, wild paradise.

Set out over two floors, Hamanavay House sleeps eight people self-catered. On the ground floor there is a double-ended multi-fuel stove, one side facing the drawing room, the other facing the dining and kitchen area. There is a collection of Hebridean themed books in the dining room along with puzzles and board games, there is no TV but there is limited satellite Wi-Fi. The dining room is open plan with the kitchen, next to the utility room which is also used as the drying room with washing machine, with toilet and shower room opposite next to a twin bedroom. The rest of the bedrooms are upstairs, one large master en suite, one double, a twin room and a bathroom. This is the ideal home away from home, to rest and recharge far away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.
